Facilities at Thakadu Bush Camp

A La carte menu
When we took over the lodge we were lucky enough to be able to work with Kerapetse who has been with Thakadu from the first day it opened its singular concrete base with 2 hobs in the corner.
Now our menu changes every day as we run a Farm-to-table restaurant, with the driving force being fresh organic ingredients sourced sustainably.
All the game and Vegetables are grown here, my mother has a piggery for all pork products, ducks for eggs, and even beef and chicken are sourced from neighboring friends who farm in an ecologically friendly manner.
Group braai
We have implemented this as an option for groups as a result of a long-standing client requesting it.
The braai is set up near the table with the guests and food cooked while they are seated overlooking the floodlit waterhole and is served buffet style, this way it creates an amazing atmosphere and gets appetites going with all the aroma!
Welcome drinks and bar
For planned tours we have found that a nice free welcome cocktail and popcorn is a great ice breaker and allows the management team to introduce ourselves and tell the clients more about the establishment, what there is to do, and get to know each other more!
The bar is always well stocked and cold, with seating overlooking the waterhole or pool, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere!
Requests
We pride ourselves on taking almost any request, should you feel like something that is not on the menu such as gluten-free, vegan, or more vegetarian options then we have good enough chefs and are willing to put in the effort to make your meal great.
Campsites
Each campsite surrounds an ancient leadwood tree that provides welcome shade.
Each site has running water, electricity, plug points, a light for the campsite and a braai place. Campsites are situated separately from one another for privacy but all within close distance to the 2 ablution blocks that always have hot water. Wood is available and we are always here to lend some ingredients, pots, or pans.
We have extra-large combined campsites for large groups and overlanders and also have a secluded campsite 200 meters from the lodge for a secluded experience for the more adventurous!
