THE CENTRAL KALAHARI GAME RESERVE
The Centeral Kalahari Game Reserve at 51,800 sq/km is one of the largest reserves in the world. It has only been open to the general public from the early nineties, as it was always considered too remote. It is now however serviced by 4wd accessible roads and with the advent of GPS is a rugged and awe inspiring destination for those who seek a truly remote and wild experience. Although one may not experience the concentrations of wildlife found in other national parks the range of desert adapted wildlife is extraordinary and after the rains antelope may congregate in their thousands especially in the valleys.these are of course followed by the inevitable predators including Leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, brown hyaena and the famous and enormous black maned Kalahari lions. To see giraffe in the Centeral Kalahari Game Reserve is a unique experience.as they dominate the skyline even at considerable distances. |

TAYLOR MADE SAFARIS
We offer Tailor made safaris into the Centeral Kalahari Game Reserve fully catered or self catering in our Unimog which tackles the difficult terrain with ease. A three day safari with two nights camping is the shortest possible trip and longer is highly recommended. There is no water available in the Centeral Kalahari Game Reserve so we have to carry our own requirements. Bucket showers are supplied at some of the campsites so be prepared for a fairly dusty stay |

3 DAY SAFARI
, prepare to leave Thakadu at dawn as distances are considerable. We will journey 120km north to the Kuke veterinary cordon fence which forms the northern boundary of theCenteral Kalahari Game Reserve. Turning due East we enter the reserve at Tsau gate and continue on the South of the fence until we turn south towards Motopi waterhole on our way to Parssage valley. This route takes us through undulating dunes covered in Kalahari scrub and grass. Eland and lion are often seen. Camping for the first night will usually be in the Passarge valley which sometimes plays host to huge concentrations of antelope especially gemsbok, springbok and wildebeest. Cheetah prefer the valley bottoms as the provide ideal open hunting. The eerie solitude and vast night skies are unforgettable. |

sees us gently meandering through many of the pans and ridges of the northern part of the Centeral Kalahari Game Reserve, including Deception valley and pan which were made famous by Mark and Delia Owen in the 1980’s in their book Cry of the Kalahari. We will either camp at Deception or carry on to the more exposed Pipers pan. Pipers pan has a waterhole and is noted for its Lions and fabulous bird life. |

We travel North through the North Eastern pans and exit at Motswiri gate. Exiting at Xade in the South is not currently an option as the gate has been closed for veterinary reasons. We travel back to Kuke on the Northern side of the Kuke cordon and on to hot showers and sundowners at Thakadu. |
